Job Description

Red Rocks Community College seeks applications for a Faculty member to join our Physician Assistant Program. This is a 220-day appointment.

Position Responsibilities: This position exists to provide instruction and oversight to the ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program. Participates in the day-to-day design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of the didactic and clinical education of physician assistant students according to ARC-PA standards. This is a 12-month appointment.

  • Administrative Assignment as Director of clinical training:
  • Provide oversight of the clinical curriculum and the cumulative patient experiences for each student; monitor the patient logging software at the end of each clinical course.
  • Participate in and oversee the identification, evaluation, and certification of acceptable clinical training sites and preceptors for the physician assistant program.
  • Manage the communication between students, preceptors, sites and the PA program, including site visits.
  • Ensure all PA students are placed in supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPE) meeting ARC-PA standards and program-required experiences. 
  • Manage the clinical team to include the non-PA clinical coordinator and other faculty and staff to provide all PA students with SCPE’s.
  • Oversee the appropriate credentialing of sites and students and ensures affiliation agreements are in place for each SCPE.
  • Market the program to communities, potential clinical sites, potential preceptors and students and for maintaining positive communication channels with all sites.
  • Plan and manage the monthly end of rotation activities during the clinical curriculum.
  • Perform specific administrative assignments and/or maintains a clinical load as outlined in the program annual faculty assignments. 
  • Coordinate with other faculty in curriculum planning, development, delivery, and review. Participate in program governance and assume program duties as needed.
  • Maintain clinical expertise (clinical practice for licensed PAs and MD/DO’s only, 1 day/week)
  • Teach didactic and clinical courses, including site visits and student assessment
  • Functions as an ARC-PA mandated “principle faculty” member and fulfill the relevant requirements per the standards
  • Participate as a team instructor for a variety of basic science and medical courses.
  • Maintains an appropriate teaching load (credits or contact hours) and advising load for a physician assistant faculty member.
  • Participate in program, divisional, and college wide professional and service activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant master’s degree
  • Graduate of accredited physician assistant program with current NCCPA certification.  If an MD or DO, appropriate board certification.
  • Two years of clinical practice.
  • Commitment to the mission and goals of the program.
  • Ability to teach using traditional and alternative methods of instruction (computer-aided instruction, interdisciplinary approaches, small group facilitation, self-paced, online, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral Degree
  • Primary care practice experience
  • Teaching experience in a PA program or medical school or demonstration of previous student mentoring or precepting.

Salary: $84,200 - $94,106/annual

Physician Assistant-Denver Metro Area
Well established, in-demand private practice is looking for FT and PT Physician Assistants to join our team. Experience in skilled nursing and/or long term care setting a plus but will consider new grads.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Physician Assistant with the State of Colorado
