Job Description

Position Title - Faculty – Physician Assistant Program (Multiple Positions) 

Primary Work Location - 5420 Miller Street Arvada, Colorado 80002

Salary - $81,200 – 91,106/annual* (220-Day, FT appointment). Salary will be prorated for any appointment less than 100%
*Subject to any increase in the faculty salary initial placement schedule for the 2019 – 20 academic year.

Starting Pay Rate - Starting salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Anticipated Start Date - May 2019

FLSA Status - This position is not eligible for overtime

Opening Date - March 18, 2019

Closing Date - April 07, 2019

Job Type - This is a full-time, 220-day (100%) appointment. We are open to the possibility of appointments under 100%. Appointments under 70% are not eligible for benefits (medical, dental, paid leave, etc.). This is a 12-month appointment.

Red Rocks Community College seeks applications for two faculty members to join our Physician Assistant Program beginning in the Summer 2019 Semester. Department Information & Mission:

The mission of the Red Rocks Community College Physician Assistant Program is to prepare physician assistants to practice and promote empathetic, primary care-focused medicine that serves the community.

Summary of Position: 
This position exists to provide instruction in the ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program while participating in the day-to-day design, implementation, delivery and evaluation of the didactic and clinical education of physician assistant students according to ARC-PA standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant, or Healthcare Discipline, or Science Related Field or a M.D. /D.O.
  • Current of previous certification: NCCPA or MD / DO Board Certification
  • 4,000 hours of professional work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Primary care practice experience,
  • Teaching or clinical coordination at a PA program or medical/health care educational program.
  • Previous student precepting.
  • Experience with student logging and/or student placement software programs.
  • Membership in or experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of students and staff from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in the College.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Commitment to the mission and goals of the program.
  • Ability to teach using traditional and alternative methods of instruction (computer-aided instruction, interdisciplinary approaches, small group facilitation, self-paced, online, etc.).

Description of Position:

  • Participate in the day-to-day design, implementation, delivery and evaluation of the didactic and clinical education of physician assistant students according to ARC-PA standards.
  • Teach using traditional and alternative methods of instruction (computer-aided instruction, interdisciplinary approaches, self-paced, online, etc.).
  • Maintain appropriate teaching load as assigned.
  • Facilitate in small group instruction.
  • Participate in the recruitment, development, maintenance, and oversight of clinical sites/preceptors.
  • Coordinate with other faculty in curriculum planning, development, delivery, and review.
  • Recruit, advise and retain students.
  • Maintain regular office hours.
  • Participate in program governance and assume program duties as needed.
  • Evaluate student didactic and clinical performance in accordance with established objectives and performance standards.
  • Supervise and instruct students in didactic settings.
  • Assist with the recruitment of adjunct faculty and promote rapport with local physicians, PAs, and other health care providers.
  • Participate in program, divisional and college-wide professional development activities and committees.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to different learning styles.
  • Serve as a liaison between Red Rocks Community College and the community.
  • Fulfill the direct teaching, indirect teaching, professional development, and service obligations of full-time physician assistant faculty.

Maintain clinical expertise (clinical practice for licensed PAs and MD/DO’s only. 1 day/week).
