The applicant must acquire a baccalaureate degree by September 1, 2019. The baccalaureate degree must be obtained through an institution of higher learning accredited by a Department of Education (DOE) recognized accrediting agency.

All RRCC PA program prerequisites must be acquired at a US institution of higher learning accredited by a DOE recognized agency. The applicant must complete all RRCC program prerequisites by September 1, 2019. Coursework completed after September 1, 2019 will not be accepted. All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Applicants must have a cumulative prerequisite GPA of 3.0 or higher. Online prerequisite courses are accepted. Please note: all specified prerequisite courses are required, no substitutions for prerequisite coursework will be accepted.

Organic Chemistry* (200 level or higher)

*Please note: 200 level equivalent (sophomore level) course or above is necessary to meet the requirement. These courses usually require a freshman level (100 level equivalent) pre-requisite course.

Prerequisite courses must be taken in their respective departments (for example, cell biology must be taken in the biology department). Courses taken in other departments (for example nursing or kinesiology) or part of a professional program do not provide sufficient foundational knowledge to fulfill the needs of the PA program. The exception to this is the statistics requirement. An appropriate statistics class may be taken in any department.

Please note that these prerequisites represent the minimum requirements to be considered for admission. Successful applicants (admitted to the program) usually have significant additional science coursework at or above the 200 level equivalent (sophomore level).

Advanced placement is not accepted in lieu of any prerequisite except for college algebra. Advanced standing, credit for experiential learning, or courses completed as part of a professional degree will not be accepted for any course required as part of the PA curriculum.
