Emergency and Public Safety

Our department, now called Outdoor and Emergency Services, offers a number of exciting programs related to emergency and public services, all of which lead to an associate degree and/or certificate.

The majority of courses in the Emergency and Public Safety Department are delivered in a variety of settings, as much of the learning requires hands-on experiences.

Faculty and staff stand ready to assist you as you explore career possibilities and plan a schedule in the areas of Criminal Justice, Emergency Management and Planning, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Science, Law Enforcement Training, Outdoor Education, or Park Ranger Technology. Department administration offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Look for the Emergency and Public Safety Department on the Red Rocks Lakewood Campus, in the southwest end of the building. You can find the homepages of each of our programs in the blue box on the left of this page.

Emergency Services Annual Career Fair

“The Emergency Services Career Fair that was held on March 18th was a great success. Over 35 agencies from Police Departments, Sheriff’s Offices, Fire Departments, Emergency Responders, and universities were represented. Professionals had a chance to network with one another, and students had the opportunity to ask questions about their career fields and make application with various agencies. There was a SWAT vehicle on display manned by the SWAT team commander. Students also enjoyed the vintage ambulance and chatting about emergency medicine in the 1950’s! The next fair will be held during the Fall semester.”
