Katey Parsons is a Licensed Professional Counselor contracted with Red Rocks Community College through Jefferson Center for Mental Health.   Born and raised in Indiana, she has been licensed in the state of Colorado for over 10 years and was previously licensed in Missouri where she earned her Master of Education degree in Educational and Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia.  Katey has worked in a number of settings prior to coming to RRCC including schools, non-profit agencies, and private practice and has always enjoyed participating in educational and mental health outreach activities.  To re-charge herself outside of RRCC, Katey spends time with her family and friends, watching Mizzou Football and Basketball, jogging, and playing softball.  Katey has been enjoying her position as therapist as well as Co-Leader of the RRCC Peer Counseling Program at the Red Rocks Community College Health and Counseling Center since 2013.

Jim Townsend is a Licensed Professional Counselor contracted part time with Red Rocks Community College through Jefferson Center.  Jim has a Master’s of Science degree from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. In practice he uses a person-centered approach, coupled with empathy and unconditional positive regard for you and your life history. He has extensive experience in helping clients with a wide variety of challenges including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, struggles with substance use, struggles with relationships, sexual issues, and grief associated with a variety of losses. He is a lifelong musician, playing guitar since age 7. He has one young adult child, one dog, one house, two cars, and at last count, twelve guitars! He and his wife Jamie, who grew up in Denver, moved here 6 years ago and they love the city and all things Colorado!
Jim is available to meet with students Mondays and Wednesdays at the Lakewood Campus and Tuesdays at the Arvada Campus during the Fall and Spring Semesters. Jim will be at the Lakewood Campus only during the summer semesters.
