Groups and Meetings

The LGBTQ Center offers a variety of discussion groups to support our students.  The groups historically offered are listed below.  If you have a topic you would like to discuss, but don’t see a group listed for it, you can start your own!  Just contact to get started.

Coming Out Support Group

Coming out is a lifelong process.  As such, this group is open to anyone who wishes to talk about the struggles associated with coming out, gather strategies for how to approach different situations, and to gain support in their own coming out process.

Intersecting Identities

There is a huge amount of diversity within the LGBT community, but sometimes our other identities are silences in service of a sense of belonging.  In this group we will discuss the ways that privilege and oppression operate in our lives, not only with our LGBT identities, but with all of our identities.  By looking at the whole person, we are better able to understand how we may experience the world differently and how we can be more supportive of each other.

Religion, Spirituality, and the LGBT Community

It is very common for members of our community to struggle with their faith, especially if their faith community isn’t particularly LGBT-affirming or supportive.  This group will focus on the ways that we reconcile our faith with our genders and sexual orientations, and what that means for us and for our community.

Rainbow Alliance

Rainbow Alliance is a Red Rocks Community College student club for LGBTQ and allied students.  Their meetings are open to everyone and take place on Thursdays at 3:00 pm in the Green Mountain Room on the Lakewood campus.  To contact the club directly, email
