Suicide Prevention Resources

RRCC was awarded a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Garrett Lee Smith Suicide Prevention Grant in September 2015.  This grant has allowed us grow our capacity to better serve the mental health needs of our students.  Through this grant, we hope to accomplish three goals:

1. Establish a coordinated and knowledgeable suicide prevention networking infrastructure at Red Rocks Community College that connects the campus to the community.

2. Develop a network of students, faculty, and staff identified as gatekeepers who can respond effectively to students with mental and substance use disorders.

3. Foster a culture of help seeking on the RRCC campus through education of students, faculty, and staff targeted at reducing negative attitudes towards seeking care for mental health and substance use disorders.

For more information on grant activities, or to find out how you can be involved in these efforts, contact Emma Griffis at emma.griffis@rrcc.edu.
