  • Participate in local and national SALUTE programs.

History

SALUTE was formed in 2009 by the Colorado State University Veterans Office thanks to a grant by the American Council of Education and Wal-Mart Foundation. Now, there are over 230 chapters as part of the society, and nearly 12,000 student veterans have been inducted!

Each chapter symbolizes not only the collective achievement of veterans bettering themselves through the pursuit of knowledge, but also our commitment as a group to honor those among us that are the tip of the spear across the nation.

We are continuing our history and the success of student leaders by sanctioning them to continue to serve. Each scholar will forever be members of our society and be the role models for the student veterans that follow them. They have a duty going forward for making this honor society, and their local chapter, something that promotes achievement by all student veterans now and in the future.

Values: Service, Academics, Leadership, Unity, Tribute, Excellence

These are the foundation blocks of our honor society and is the basis of success.

Service

An act of helpful activity or selflessness, help, and aid: The service member who advances without coveting fame and retreats without fearing disgrace, who’s only thought is to protect their county and do good service for their sovereign, is the jewel of the kingdom.

" You can start from this day forward to apply the habit of going the extra mile by always rendering more service".

Academics

A scholar or teacher in an institute of higher education, in the environment concerned with the pursuit of research, education, and scholarship: True scholars humbly realize the learning is a continuing process and are keenly aware of the level of dedicated and that's what you should be in anything in life. Whether it's sports, academics, or your relationship. It all stems from finding that fun, that thrill, that excitement of the pursuit of knowledge.

"Whatever you are doing, do it with all your might, give 100%- always. You will be dedicated and that's what you should want to be in anything in life". Find that fun, that thrill, that excitement in the pursuit of knowledge...

Leadership

Activity of influencing people to cooperate in achieving some common goal or objective. The quality to pull together as one, yet allows them to contribute while retaining their uniqueness as individuals.

Unity

The state of being one; oneness; a thing forming a complex whole; being connected together for the good of the country and community.

Tribute

Acknowledge of the valuable consideration paid by one to another, in the price of peace, security and protection.

"The greatest real thrill that life offers is to create, to construct, to develop something useful. Too often we fail to recognize and pay tribute to the creativity spirit. It is that spirit that creates our jobs".

Excellence

The state of excelling, if you are going to achieve excellence in the big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an expression; it is a prevailing attitude.

Oath

"I promise to uphold the ideals and further the aims of SALUTE. By doing so, I'm showing my continued achievements and success--as well as-- increasing my value to my college, my community, and promoting the same for future student veterans"
